Summer Glow Body Oil

It's time to get creative!

If you would like to add some shimmer to your sun-deprived skin, you can spend a heap of money on a branded tinted body oil, which can be full of synthetic ingredients and cheap carrier oils (that offer little to no nourishment to your skin), or make your own product using high-end ingredients for under $25.  

The carrier oils and essential oils you use can be adjusted according to your skin type and budget too.  I have included plenty of suggestions for you below.

This beautifully rich body oil recipe takes just minutes to make and won’t give you a tan, but it will give you a luminous glow, loads of nourishment and it smells like Spring 🌼

1/4-1/2 teaspoon Natural Mineral Bronzer, Blush or Eye Colour
25ml Rosehip Oil
25ml Pomegranate Oil
8 drops Ylang Ylang
8 drops Geranium
8 drops Bergamot*

Simply add all ingredients to a 50ml glass bottle and shake before each use. Start with a 1/4 teaspoon of colour and add more if you need to! These oils are gentle and light enough to use on the face.  

Rosehip and Pomegranate Oil are both wonderful for dry, damaged skin.  Rosehip Oil contains a high percentage of essential fatty acids, omega-3 & 6 and Vitamin A, making it incredibly healing.  Pomegranate Oil is rich in essential fatty acids, phytosterols and tocopherols (Vitamin E) boasting powerful regenerative properties.

* If you use citrus oils, be aware that they have photosensitive properties meaning they can cause burns if you are planning to go out in the sun.  Using products with citrus oils are safe if you aren't spending lengthy amounts of time in the sun, or 12 hours before sun exposure only.

If you want to play it safe, swap out the Bergamot for Lavender or Sandalwood, for example.

I used @ecominerals eye colour in this bottle - Sunset Rose blended with Indian Summer.  Any bronze or pink hues would work depending on your preference - remember the tint is so subtle!

There are plenty of carrier oils you can use depending on your skin type.

Dry/Inflamed: Rosehip, Pomegranate Oil

✨ Balanced: Camellia, Argan, Sweet Almond Oil

✨ Oily: Grapeseed, Castor, Jojoba, Hemp Oil

Essential oils can be personalised according to your skin type also, be creative and use what you have, but also what you love the smell of!

🌱 Dry/Mature: Juniper Berry, Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood, Myrrh

🌱 Oily: Basil, Eucalyptus, Melissa

🌱 Blemished: Clary Sage, Geranium, Lavender, Tea Tree, Rosemary

Please remember, not all essential oils are made equal.  I only recommend and use dōTERRA due to it's purity and third-party testing.

Don't be afraid to experiment but do check that the oils you are using are safe for your specific circumstances.  Essential oils, although natural, do have contraindications so check a reliable source for safety information or contact me.
